Supporting Change in Uganda

As part of my commitment to making a difference beyond speaking and mentoring, I actively support two incredible projects in Uganda that are creating real impact. These initiatives focus on education, empowerment, and sustainable change, helping vulnerable communities build a brighter future.

Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives

Project 1: Hebron Junior School – Sponsoring Education & Clean Water

Back to where it all began!

Hebron Junior School in Uganda is more than just a school—it’s a lifeline for hundreds of children eager to learn, grow, and build a future beyond their circumstances. My connection with Hebron started in 2017 when I first volunteered there. At the time, the school had 175 students, a waiting list full of eager learners, and passionate teachers struggling to keep things running due to financial constraints.

A School Built on Hope & Resilience

Thanks to the generosity of so many during my #Road2Uganda campaign, we built a new schoolhouse that today educates an additional 150 students. Fast forward to today, and Hebron Junior School has blossomed, with over 370 students aged 3 to 14. But with growth comes challenges.

The Current Challenges

Access to Clean & Safe Water: The cost of clean water remains a significant burden. The local supply is too expensive to sustain, and we need a long-term solution. We are currently raising finances to be able to drill towards an underground well which is fortunately located on the school grounds that could sustainably support the school community.

Education Sponsorship: Many students at Hebron struggle with school fees and learning materials. Without sponsorship, they risk losing access to education.

How You Can Help

🌍 Sponsor a Child’s Education: Provide a scholarship to cover tuition fees, school meals, books, and learning materials.

💧 Contribute to the Clean Water Campaign: Help fund sustainable water solutions for the school.

Project 2: Friends of People with Disabilities – Supporting Mama Geraldine’s Outreach

A Safe Haven for Those Who Need It Most

One of the most inspiring places I’ve ever visited is Friends of People with Disabilities, a small yet powerful school led by the compassionate and selfless Mama Geraldine. I first volunteered here in 2017 and returned in 2018, and years later, she is still dedicating her life to giving children with disabilities the chance to learn, grow, and feel valued.

The Reality of Disability in Uganda

In Uganda, disabilities are often highly stigmatised, and tragically, over 75% of fathers abandon their families when a child is born with a disability. This leaves mothers as sole caregivers, struggling to balance survival and care.

Currently, the school provides a safe and nurturing environment for 47 children with disabilities, including those with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and more.

The Current Challenges

🚗 Outreach & Accessibility: Many children live within a 10km radius but cannot regularly attend due to transport issues. Mama Geraldine does outreach visits, supporting families who cannot make the journey.

💰 Funding for Education: Many of the children’s families live in extreme poverty, making school fees and basic learning materials a constant challenge.

How You Can Help

Home Outreach: 10 Million UX (£2,100) - Mama Geraldine has raised half of the required amount to purchase a car to support home outreach for students, however the other half would support to ensure that all 47 children and their families have access to at home care as well as in school care.

Sponsor a Child (per term): 250,000 UX (£55)

❤️ Support Outreach Visits: Help fund transport and resources so that Mama Geraldine can visit children at home. 🎓 Sponsor a Child’s Education: Provide sponsorship to keep children in school, ensuring they receive the care and education they deserve.

Whether it's through education sponsorship, funding sustainable water solutions, or supporting outreach initiatives, your support will create a direct and lasting impact.
